How to start reselling branded clothing with €300
You need no shop, no €2,000 of stock and no contacts in the trade. With €300 and one weekend you can have your first pack photographed and listed. This is the plan the resellers who start with us follow.
Step 1. Pick a category, not “clothing”
The classic mistake is buying a bit of everything. The Vinted and Wallapop profiles that sell well are specialists: “branded dresses, new with tags” or “women's jeans, sizes 36-40”. Choose a category you know and that sells all year. Dresses, shirts and jeans are the three that turn over fastest among our resellers.
Step 2. Your first purchase: €300 well spread
A suggestion using real catalogue prices: Dresses Mix pack, 20 garments: €185 (€9.25 per garment, average retail €60). Shirts & Blouses Mix pack, 10 garments: €95 (€9.50 per garment, average retail €60). Shipping: from €6.95 by weight. Total from €286.95.
That leaves €13 for mailing bags. Estimated resale value at 50 % of retail: 30 garments × €30 = €900.
Step 3. Photograph it in two hours
Neutral background (a white wall or a sheet), daylight, a hanger or a flat lay on the floor, four photos per garment: front, back, the brand label and the price tag. The price tag shot is the one that sells: the buyer sees the retail price and understands the discount. With 30 garments in identical condition it takes two hours, not a weekend.
Step 4. Pricing: the 50 % rule
List at 50 % of retail. A dress tagged at €59.99 goes up at €30. Buyers read that as a clear bargain and it still leaves you €20 per garment. If you want faster rotation, accept offers down to 40 %. Below 35 % of retail you are giving margin away.
Step 5. A description that converts
A template that works: “[Brand] [garment type] [size]. New with tags, retail [price]. Unworn, no defects. Ships within 24 h.” Repeat the brand and the size in the title. Avoid the words “lot” and “pack” in listings to end buyers: sell garment by garment.
Step 6. What to expect in month one
With 30 garments listed, a new reseller sells between 15 and 25 in the first month across Vinted and Wallapop, depending on category and season. Twenty sales at €30 bring back €600, so you have doubled your investment with 10 garments still on sale. Reinvest in a pack of 30 or 40 garments to lower your cost per garment.
Step 7. Scale by cutting your cost per garment
The same Dresses Mix pack costs €10.50 per garment at 10 units, €9.25 at 20, €8.33 at 30 and €6.90 at 50. Each step up hands you €1 to €2 more margin per garment without changing anything you sell. Shipping is free from €1,000 in Spain and €1,500 in the EU.
